Idea to become Vodafone Idea, raise Rs 15,000 crore

MUMBAI: Idea Cellular has called an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) on June 26 to change the name of the telecom company to Vodafone Idea Limited.The Kumar Mangalam Birla-owned company in a regulatory filing Friday added that the EGM will also consider raising funds through non convertible debentures not exceeding Rs 15,000 crore.In the last leg of regulatory approvals, the merger of the second and third largest telecom companies in India, is expected shortly.
