Self-reliance has given this CEO more control

Dinesh Kanabar’s work-from-home experience is India’s new buzzword — ‘atmanirbhar’ or self-reliant. “Team meetings, organising the day, managing client responses and a lot of things that were earlier left to be attended by executive assistants are now being done by me without breaking into a sweat,” the CEO of Dhruva Advisors tells ETPanache.Kanabar says that not only him, but his entire leadership team has become more tech savvy during the lockdown. Apart from work, Kanabar has also become self-reliant about his fitness regimen. “[Earlier] I used to have a trainer coming over thrice a week. In the lockdown, the first thing I started doing was working out by myself. I used my past experience and substitutions like the TheraBand for weights. In the process, I have been able to improvise a lot, be fitter and more regular with my fitness regimen.”Working spaceKanabar has also ensured that he has a separate, dedicated working space at home. “This ensures privacy, which my work needs, and focussed attention on clients. A sizeable portion of the work we do can easily be done from home and, as a result, I have kept quite busy. At the same time, home and access to family are just a few steps away. While there are demands from clients for late night and weekend calls, I have mostly been able to maintain work-life balance,” he says.A major benefit has been the time Kanabar has been spending with his fourmonth-old grandson. “If not for the lockdown, I would not have been able to find the time to bond with him the way I have now,” he says.Between work and playing the doting grandfather, Kanabar has also made time to catch up on some hobbies. “I read some philosophy. I also spend time updating my stamp collection,” he says.76397654
