Hero Future Energies appoints Srivatsan Iyer as the global CEO

MUMBAI: Hero Future Energies, the renewable energy arm of the Hero Group, is appointing Srivatsan Iyer as the global Chief Executive Officer, taking over from Sunil Jain.Speaking about the appointment, Rahul Munjal, Chairman and Managing Director said: "He will work towards strengthening HFE’s presence in domestic markets and growing its global presence and will be responsible for the company’s business and financial goals."Iyer plans on strengthening internal business processes and increasing innovation to reduce the costs of existing projects, said a statement issued by the company. He will also focus on improving efficiency, and hopes to make India a knowledge, design, and engineering hub for Hero Future's global operations.Sunil Jain, an industry veteran, had been the CEO of HFE since its launch in 2013. He will be handing over the charge at the end of the month.Previously, Iyer was the Vice President of Strategy & Planning and Innovation & Technology at Braskem, the largest petrochemical company in North and South America. Prior to that, Iyer has worked at McKinsey & Company and ExxonMobil Chemical in various roles. He holds a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from IIT Madras, MS in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.Hero Future Energies currently has a portfolio of 1,200 MW worth of wind and solar projects operational in India, with another 1,500 MW under construction. The company has set a target of achieving 5,000 MW under its belt by 2022.
