Leading hotel chains offer rooms to care for sick
Some leading hotels are offering quarantine services for asymptomatic and mild cases of Covid-19 as demand for paid isolation services increases in major cities.Hotel chains such as Indian Hotels, ITC Hotels, Oyo, Lemon Tree, Trident and Sarovar Hotels have tied up with hospitals and worked out elaborate safety and cleaning SOPs to provide maximum safety to patients and staff across touchpoints to offer isolation services at select properties.“Demand for these rooms is increasing in cities where cases are surging,” said a spokesperson at Indian Hotels, manager of Taj hotels, that has offered more than 1,400 rooms for isolation services across the country. “Our hospital partners will provide on-site doctors and nurses at these facilities,” the person said.ITC Hotels recently announced conversion of Welcomhotel properties in Dwarka (Delhi), Coimbatore, Chennai, and Bengaluru into paid quarantine facilities.“Most of these hotels have a reasonably large inventory,” said Anil Chadha, chief operating officer at ITC Hotels. “This is a tough time for everyone. We hope that by way of the collaboration between Welcomhotels and partner hospitals, we shall be able to provide some relief and comfort to the community.”82448542Lemon Tree Hotels has provided 714 rooms to various hospitals for early care facility to mild/asymptomatic Covid-19 patients in Gurgaon, Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.Trident Hotel Bandra Kurla is providing rooms and services to non-critical Covid-19 patients and doctors from HN Reliance Foundation Hospital, while Sarovar Hotels and Resorts in partnership with #iamgurgaon and Emoha Elder Care has started a 60-bed Covid Care Centre at Golden Tulip Hotel, Sector 29, Gurgaon for elders on the recovery journey.“We are also currently offering isolation services in Hyderabad fairly successfully,” said Ajay Bakaya, managing director of Sarovar Hotels. “It’s working well because we have tie ups with multiple hospitals in the city.”Oyo Hotels & Homes has isolation services running in more than 70 properties, especially in places witnessing a surge in the number of cases such as Delhi, Mumbai, Nagpur and Pune. “Oyo’s presence across India enables us to support the healthcare system that has been stretched for space during such times,” said Rohit Kapoor, chief executive officer, India and Southeast Asia at Oyo.
