Anand Mahindra's next car could have a Sanskrit or Haryanvi name
Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd’s next car could have a Haryanvi name—or a Sanskrit one. When a Twitter follower asked Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra if he could make a car with a Hindi name, Mahindra invited suggestions from his followers. "Give me some suggestions...I enjoy collecting a library of possible car names...," he tweeted. Mahindra's Twitter timeline was flooded with suggestions, ranging from Haryanavi to Sanskrit. One Swami Shivapad of Art of Living suggested several names from Krishna's chariot: "One Krishna’s chariot name :-Daruga. Krishna had 4 horses. 1. Balahak (whitish) 2.Meghapuspa/Meghan (color of clouds) 3. Shaibya (green like a parrot) 4. sugreeva (yellow-gold)." The name of Arjuna's chariot Kapi, shortened from Kapidhwaja, was another 'epic' suggestion. "Udan Khatola" and "Pushpak" were among the expected ones. All answers were responses to the Indian business tycoon's earlier post seeking suggestions for car names. "There is a background score and anthem already available, tried and tested," he tweeted, playing on the name of the protagonist in the hit period movie. "Chetak", "Humsafar" and "Teer" were other suggestions.Yet another follower suggested "Dhakad" (daring) a Haryanavi name, referring to the robustness of Mahindra vehicles. "The kind of vehicles Mahindra produces, it should be named "????"," he tweeted. @anandmahindra The kind of vehicles Mahindra produces, it should be named "धाकड".— Deepak S.
