AbhiBus boss gave staff an option to WFH

When Hyderabad-based startup AbhiBus decided to welcome employees back to the office earlier this month, it did so on a voluntary basis: Staff could decide for themselves if they wished to return or continue remote working. However, everybody was eager to get back, reveals founder Sudhakar Reddy.“Most of the staff chose to come in. It was very encouraging to see people enquiring with the HR team, their managers, and me, about the reopening process. They all worked hard during the lockdown phase, not shying from doing multiple roles and multitasking. So, it was a moment of pride to see them walk back to the office,” he says.Safety first They currently follow a rotational shift roster and there are stringent hygiene and safety norms at the office, including daily disinfecting of the entire building, cabins and work stations. Everybody is thermal scanned upon entry, while every alternate urinal, seat and handwashing station is blocked. The Aarogya Setu app is a must, as are masks. There are hand sanitisers at every workstation.Following these precautions and being cognisant of physical distancing norms is paramount to the reopening process, Reddy adds. “For the safety of one’s family members, one needs to go through multiple hygiene checks. At the same time, maintaining a reasonable distance [from others] is also important while at work,” he adds. But the pay off is in the form of face-to-face interaction. “Being back in the office was relaxing. Working from home was more challenging than I thought. But meeting teammates and discussing things was satisfying,” Reddy says.76397654
