Sula Vineyards founder's hacks to stay in good spirits

Rajeev Samant, Founder, Sula Vineyards on what he looks forward to post pandemic and how he’s keeping his mood up one phone call at a time.Forward thinking: I am really looking forward to welcoming friends and guests to the vineyards again. Of course, eating out and supporting all our precious restaurateurs will be on my list. And finally, I would love to spend a little time in London, my favourite city in the world.Fly away: My wife Margo and I really want to visit gorgeous Georgia. It’s calling out our names. They have an ancient wine culture and the people are known for being really friendly and welcoming. And every winter I have to spend time in Goa - it’s a special place and the food just gets better each year. I have lifetime friends there and it is always nice to share a meal or a dance with them.Spa day: I will be really happy to be able to get massages again; it does help to calm your body, mind and soul, especially with all the business decisions I have to take on a daily basis.Treat time: I’m starting to dream about that butter garlic crab and Rawas Hyderabadi Tikka at Trishna -- It’s been way too long! When it comes to shopping I try to live a pretty minimalist life. I don't shop so much, but if I do then it’s London or Dubai.Level up: I upgraded my MacBook and then added a big screen and an ergonomic keyboard and mouse. I also got myself some AirPods which I’m addicted to now. We are getting noise canceling headphones for all our managers - they're a big help during those interminable online meetings.WFH hack: Making time to exercise every day no matter how much work is really important to me. I get in a morning jog, gym workout or tennis game 6 days a week. And daily quality time with our 3-year-old daughter is the best medicine.Mood boost: I try to reach out to someone close to me every day on a video call, like my parents or friends from all over the world - that’s always a great mood lifter for both people, just catching up on life happenings apart from big bad Covid. Exercise and a good book are non-negotiable - right now I’m reading Jonathan Franzen’s 'The Corrections' and loving it. I loved Hilary Mantel’s 'Wolf Hall' trilogy. I’m a sucker for historical fiction and non-fiction.Nature calls: We were at our vineyard for an entire year and my wife and I took great delight in expanding our organic garden and coming up with new recipes to enjoy all our fantastic home-grown produce.
